Working Wednesday - Best Advice for Work at Home Consultants

A couple weeks ago, someone asked me what was the best advice I could give a new consultant just starting out with Tupperware. Below is my answer, it can apply to anyone joining any direct sales company, beginning their own business or in finding success in any job or personal endeavor.

1. Connect with your WHY - why are you here, why did you join this company, what do you want out of your TW business, what is going to motivate you and keep you going when the going gets tough, because it will get tough. When your WHY is strong enough, then so will your WILL be strong enough.

2. Create a clear VISION - what are your dreams? if you had a magic wand and could change anything in your life, what would you change? What do you need most in your life right now? where do you want to be in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, what do you want your life to be like
than and what do you want your life to NOT be like then. Have a clear vision so you know where you are going! It's pretty hard to get somewhere if you don't know where you are going or why you are going there!

3. Set clear GOALS, then break them down into action plans to achieve them. Goals and dreams are great but if you don't do the necessary work and action each week, month you will just be going in circles.

4. Work CONSISTENTLY and take your business with you EVERYWHERE you go. Schedule your work hours each week in advance and commit to doing the activities necessary to build your business. If you only work when you feel like it, when you have some free time (like that ever happens)- you will not see consistent results. If you run your business like a hobby then you won't see business like results. Take your business with you always - wear logo items, a button, get a car decal, always have catalogs, party planning packets, opportunity info packets, pull tab fliers, biz cards in your car or bag that you can
leave places, give out, pin to bulletin boards.

5. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. Yes I am screaming that at you. It's the hardest thing in the world, yes I know, trust me I know. But if you never leave your comfort zone you will never get anywhere much less to the other side of your dreams!!! Don't want to pick up that
phone and make booking calls, don't want to approach that person in line behind you at the grocery store, don't want to risk feeling rejected? You will be like a ship with the anchor down. Your dreams do not COME to you - you have to get out there and go after your dreams!

Worried about rejection? How about worrying instead about the people you are letting down and allowing to miss out on all that TW has to offer by NOT sharing with them? You have the power to change others lives, to give them FREE TW and to help them - why are you keeping that all to yourself???

6. Communicate, Participate and Learn: Communicate with your upline regularly, participate in team & TW events and trainings and learn everything and anything from everyone and anything you can get your hands on, listen to or attend about direct sales, business, leadership, personal communication, personal excellence, Tupperware products, uses, features, benefits, the compensation and career plan and anything. Knowledge is POWER & it is all out there waiting for
you to soak it up - BE A SPONGE!

7. Put others first. "Your needs will be met when you focus your energies on meeting the needs of others" Stuart Wilde (my own paraphrasing though). Call it the law of attraction, Biblical living, reaping what you sow - it's the truth! When you get yourself and your needs out of the way and focus on helping others - live better lives, earning free TW, helping them learn kitchen tips and money saving ideas, having a good time, starting their own business - you will
realize you are reaching your own dreams and goals while you have been busy helping others do so.

8. HAVE FUN! Lighten up! Enjoy life, count your blessings, bring joy to others! Tupperware is a really fun company to be part of, so don't just dream it, LIVE IT and when others see you living it, they will want what you have!

Tupper Tuesday- The Adult Sippy Cups!

If you know me at all, you know that I am very clumsy and uncoordinated. I tend to spill things on myself too.

This is just one reason why I love Tupperware's Impressions 16 oz Tumblers! I call these sippy cups for adults! They feature a dripless straw seal. When the seal is on and there is no straw in it, you can turn it upside down, shake it around, do the hokey pokey with it and you drink will not pour out! When the straw is in, it will dribble out just a bit from the straw of course.

Now when I knock my Tumbler over, I have nothing to worry about! No drink pouring down the table to the floor or all over me! No big mess to clean up, no stains to try to get out! They fit great in your drink holders in your car too. Next time you take that curve a little too fast and your Tumbler goes flying, it's ok, you won't have a mess to clean up. That Tumbler can roll around in the floorboard without dripping a drop on the passenger side until you reach your destination.

Another reason I love these Tumblers is because they have a rippled design which makes them easy to grip and hold on to. The 16 oz size is in a very pretty Blueberry color.

We also have these in an 11 oz size in a Kiwi green color, which is the perfect size for your kids! The 11 oz size is a great step for your toddlers when they are ready to stop using our Sippy Cups. The rippled design also makes it easy for little hands to hold on to.

If you aren't in love with the 16 oz Impressions Tumblers yet, then here's one more reason - they are on sale for 35% off, only $17.50 but only until this Friday, July 18!

Several of our Impressions Products are on sale for 35% off until Friday too- like our Chip n Dip, Serving Center Set, Impressions 3 Bowl Set, Large Salt n Pepper Shakers and our Dining Set is on sale for 50% off!

It's a great time to stock up on Tupperware for Summer entertaining or how about earning some free for hosting a home, catalog or mini-catalog party!

Please let me know if I can help you with anything! Ask me about my very special specials for the subscribers of my blog too! :-)

Motivational Monday - July 14

Today's motivation comes near the end of the day as I pretty much took today off. I had a busy weekend and needed a little "Misty time". :-)

I have this little quote on a sticky note on my bathroom cabinet, it's been there for years. It's a very simple quote, but carries a very profound meaning.

"Before God changes circumstances, he changes us."

This quote always reminds to step back and try to look at situation like a forest as a whole and not just the trees. (Though often times I am constantly running into the tree in front of me and can't even see past that one little tree...)

It always reminds me to reflect on the lessons I can learn and the ways this situation can make me a better person in the end.

I think sometimes we just want so bad for things to be different that we just can't seem to grasp that maybe what really needs to change is US or our perspective.

Whatever your circumstances are right now, take some time to see the situation as a whole and what you can learn and become because of it. Let it make you become a better person and appreciate the refining process you are going through right now.

One day you will be able to look back at the forest you were in and appreciate all it taught you and God for bringing you through it, even if you got a few splinters along the way. :-)

Have a blessed week!
Misty

New Blog Posting Schedule! I am Excited!!

SCHEDULE... Now there is a word I do not like... I am an anti-scheduler. Okay, to be honest I am commitment phobic and that is why I don't like to schedule. I have however learned (with a lot of grumbling and foot stomping) that the only way I can maximize my time (and in the long run my income too) is to schedule everything.

Now it's time for this blog to get on a schedule too!

Here is what you have to look forward to each week from now on:

Motivating Mondays - a motivational article to get your week off to the right start every Monday!

Tupper Tuesdays - sharing the features, benefits, tips and ideas for a different Tupperware product each Tuesday!

Working Wednesdays - business building basics, tips, training, resources and ideas for those working at home or thinking about it on Wednesdays.

Thrifty Thursdays - coupon deals, money saving tips and ideas on frugal living on Thursdays!

Freebie Fridays - a weekly dose of freebies every Friday!

Eatin' In Weekends- recipes and healthy eating tips each weekend!

Woo-hoo! I am so excited how well the blog is doing and I am having so much fun with it! I hope you all will enjoy all the new features, info and resources I will be sharing! Setting this schedule means I have to make a committment to post every day too! Yikes! :-) It's going to be great!

Please refer your friends to sign up for updates on my blog too! I appreciate your support & hope you all enjoy my blog even more than I do!

Feel free to leave a comment on the new schedule or anything else I post on here!

Be blessed!!

Recipe: Green Tomato Cake

Maybe it's because I am from the south and I remember eating fried green tomatos at my grandmother's house when I was a kid, but this recipe sure does sound good to me! :-)

Cake for Breakfast. . . or Anytime at All

Relish the American Table is a weekly column that appears in newspapers across the country.

There is a limit to the number of fried green tomatoes we can eat and the number of jars of green tomato relish we can fill, so when faced with a basket of green tomatoes, we decided to do a little culinary improvisation.

As any home gardener knows, green tomatoes are firm, unripened tomatoes, picked in the fall before the first frost. New Englanders, known for their frugality, will do anything to avoid waste. Before tossing green tomatoes onto the compost, they will try to figure out a way to make them ripen.

One of their suggestions, which we tried, was hanging the vines upside-down in the cellar. It sounded reasonable enough until we realized that tomatoes, ripe or not, eventually soften and fall off the vine, which is exactly what happened to us. Next we tried wrapping the tomatoes individually in newspaper and putting them in the refrigerator to ripen. Before we knew it, the refrigerator was so filled with tomatoes, which incidentally never ripened, there was no room for anything else. We were left where we started, with a basket of green tomatoes.

One of our best green tomato recipes is a kuchen-like version of a plum tart. It's filled with green tomato wedges and is a cross between a dessert cake and a coffee cake. We call it a breakfast cake. If anyone offered us a cup of coffee and a piece of green tomato cake any time of day or night, we wouldn't hesitate to take it.

Green Tomato Breakfast Cake

Ingredients
Based on a 40-year-old recipe for plum cake that first appeared in Marion Burros and Lois Levine's The Elegant but Easy Cookbook, this cake is just as good for dessert as it is for breakfast. We substituted green tomatoes for the plums originally called for.

Nonstick cooking spray
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 green tomatoes, cored and cut into eighths
2 teaspoons turbinado or granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9-inch round cake pan or baking dish with oil.
2. Cream butter and sugar. When slightly fluffy, beat in eggs and vanilla.
3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and sift into the creamed butter mixture; beat well. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Arrange green tomato pieces in concentric circles over batter. Sprinkle lightly with sugar and cinnamon.
4. Bake 50 minutes to 1 hour or until cake is firm and golden and tests done. Serves 8.
